What to Do When Clivia Leaves and Roots Dry Up? Causes and Solutions

What should you do when clivia leaves and roots have dried up?

Some clivia growers, in order to make clivia grow fast, fertilize frequently, especially with concentrated fertilizer. Because they apply an excessive amount of undiluted fermented soybean cake liquid without mixing it with water, the leaves soon dry up, and only when the soil is tipped out of the pot do they discover that some roots have dried up as well. This is because applying overly concentrated soybean cake liquid burns the root system, causing the leaves and roots to dry up.

During the growth of clivia, the principle of light fertilizer applied frequently should be followed, and fertilizer must never be applied too concentrated. If too much or too concentrated fertilizer is applied, the roots simply cannot absorb it, and instead it causes root rot and withered leaves. This kind of "pulling up seedlings to help them grow" cultivation method is not advisable. Once this happens, the clivia should immediately be knocked out of the pot and replanted with freshly prepared growing medium.
