Orchid leaf tips drying up? These solutions are very practical

What should you do when an orchid's leaf tips dry up?

Potted orchids often develop dry leaf tips, and even entire leaves withering, mainly caused by orchid anthracnose and round spot disease. This disease occurs in large numbers during the plum rain season or at the turn of summer and autumn when temperatures are high and rain is frequent. During the susceptible period, spray a 1000-fold dilution of 50 g carbendazim or a 500-fold dilution of 50 g captan, once every 10 days, for 3~4 consecutive sprays as prevention. Households can buy small-package sterilizing pesticides.

In addition, when orchids suffer freeze damage or late frost damage, dry or discolored leaf tips also easily form. Therefore, in areas where winter temperatures fall below 0°C, before winter arrives, move the orchids indoors to a ventilated spot with sunlight for care. When moving them outdoors in spring, be careful to avoid late frost damage. Traditional experience: "No wind in spring (do not move them outdoors too early in spring, to avoid damage from strong winds), no sun in summer (provide proper shade in summer to prevent scorching by the fierce sun), no dryness in autumn (water frequently in autumn to prevent drought), no wetness in winter (the potting soil must not be too wet in winter, to prevent freezing and root rot)" is of great benefit for preventing orchid leaves from drying up.

For orchid leaves whose tips have already dried up, if the condition is not too serious, manual pruning can also be used: with scissors (preferably disinfected with alcohol), cut in a "^" shape about 10 mm below the dried part, and the pot can still remain full of green; if you spray the above-mentioned fungicide after pruning, so much the better.
