Methods to reduce costs when raising ducks

As one of the main poultry in China, ducks have a very large market in China, whether for duck meat, duck down or duck eggs. Therefore, there are also many people raising ducks now, and the competition in the duck-raising market is also very strong. Many duck raisers want to reduce the cost of raising ducks in order to improve breeding efficiency. So how should it be done? Today, the editor brings you methods to reduce costs when raising ducks. Let's take a look below!

1. Feed

Under normal circumstances, when raising ducks, the cost of feed can account for about 70% of all breeding inputs. So if you want to reduce the cost of raising ducks, then saving feed is very critical. When preparing the daily ration for ducks, the nutritional ratio of the daily ration should be kept balanced. The feed intake of ducks is greatly related to the energy level in the feed. If the energy level is high, then the feed intake will decrease; on the contrary, it will increase. Therefore, the protein and energy levels in duck feed should be kept balanced. If the feed is low in energy and high in protein, then it will lead to protein waste.

In addition, we should reasonably add additives to the feed to speed up the growth rate of meat ducks and improve feed utilization. Common additives include organic acids, probiotics, etc. These additives are very beneficial to the weight gain of meat ducks and feed utilization. Then pay attention to preventing ducks from poisoning, diarrhea and other conditions, otherwise it will reduce feed utilization. Then do a good job in feed storage to avoid rodent damage, insect damage and so on. It should be stored in a ventilated and dry place, away from light, to avoid destruction of the nutritional structure in the feed. Finally, do a good job in moisture-proofing the feed.

2. Daily management

When raising ducks, temperature control is very important. The suitable growth temperature for ducks is generally around 15-22°C. Within the suitable temperature range, feed utilization can be effectively improved. So when breeding, we must pay attention to controlling the temperature well. For example, in winter, build sheds for confinement raising, and in summer, cool down and prevent heatstroke, so as to improve the feed conversion rate. Moreover, when selecting duck breeds, excellent varieties should be given priority. Excellent duck breeds have higher feed utilization, fast growth and relatively strong disease resistance, and breeding inputs will naturally be relatively low.

3. Timely marketing

The marketing time of ducks is also greatly related to breeding costs. Under normal circumstances, meat ducks are usually at the best marketing time at around 45 days. Because at this point in time, the weight gain and feed return of meat ducks have gradually reached their peak. If it exceeds 50 days, the weight gain rate of meat ducks slows down, and the feed return also declines, affecting breeding efficiency. Therefore, we should control the marketing time of ducks well according to the local market, environment, etc., to avoid causing some unnecessary losses.

The above is a brief introduction to methods for reducing costs when raising ducks. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
