Can Phalaenopsis orchids still be kept after the flowers fade? Post-bloom care methods

Phalaenopsis orchids generally bloom from April to June each year, and they can usually be kept after blooming. During this period, cut off the spent flowers and excess flower buds. If growth is good, apply 1 to 2 light applications of quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer, then apply a compound fertilizer once every half month. During the day, keep the temperature at around 20-24°C, and at night keep it at around 16°C, to prepare for a second bloom.
I. Phalaenopsis orchids can still be kept after the flowers fade
Phalaenopsis is an epiphytic orchid, usually blooming from April to June in spring, but some friends do not know that it can actually be kept, though careful care is needed to ensure a second bloom. Generally, first cut off the spent flowers on the plant, apply a quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer once to promote flower bud differentiation, and encourage a second bloom.
II. Care methods for Phalaenopsis orchids after blooming 1. Timely thinning and pruning
Phalaenopsis is a typical perennial flowering plant. After each bloom, proper pruning should be carried out: first cut off the spent flowers on top, then thin out the newly grown flower buds, and also cut off excess dense branches, diseased and pest-infested branches, and poorly growing branches, to ensure there are enough nutrients for the next bloom and to promote flower bud differentiation.
2. Fertilizer application
The aerial roots of Phalaenopsis have a strong absorption capacity. After blooming, apply nitrogen fertilizer 1 to 2 times, stop fertilizing during high-temperature weather, and keep the fertilizer solution dilute rather than concentrated. During the peak growing season, fertilizing is mainly based on compound fertilizer, applied mainly in the form of root drenching, about once every half month, to provide the nutrients needed internally.
3. Temperature control
Temperature is the main factor affecting the blooming of Phalaenopsis. After the flowers fade, the temperature can be controlled at around 25-28°C, during the day it should be kept at around 20-24°C, and at night it should be kept at around 16°C. When the temperature is too low, use a heater to warm it; during high-temperature weather, spray water around it to maintain humidity, so as to achieve the purpose of cooling.
