Reasons for Blackened Leaves on Michelia alba and Solutions

When the leaves of Michelia alba turn black, it may be caused by a poorly ventilated environment, so the ventilation needs to be improved for care; if overwatered, reduce the amount of watering, watering once every 5 days; if overfertilized, replace the soil and apply cake fertilizer once every half month; if the light is too strong, move it to a spot with indirect light for care; if it has contracted a disease, simply spray the corresponding fungicide for prevention and control.
1. Environmental Ventilation
Michelia alba has relatively high environmental requirements. If it is usually kept in a poorly ventilated environment, its leaves can easily turn black. It needs to be moved immediately to a ventilated spot for care so that the leaves can recover.
2. Reduce Watering. Michelia alba is relatively drought-tolerant. If it is usually overwatered, water will accumulate and cause root rot, which leads to blackened leaves. The amount of watering needs to be reduced, and the rotted roots should be cut off before starting care anew. Normally, watering once every 5 days is enough.
3. Control Fertilizer Amount
Overfertilizing can also affect the growth of Michelia alba, causing its leaves to turn black and reducing its ornamental value. The soil needs to be replaced immediately, the fertilizer amount should be controlled, and care should be given carefully. Generally, in spring and autumn, cake fertilizer can be applied once every half month, making Michelia alba grow with greater ornamental value.
4. Shade and Sun Protection. Normally, Michelia alba needs sufficient light to grow with greater ornamental value. However, under strong summer sunlight, the leaves can easily dehydrate and turn black. It needs to be moved to a cool spot for careful care so that the leaves gradually regain their vitality.
5. Disease Prevention and Control
Blackened leaves on Michelia alba may also be caused by diseases such as chlorosis and anthracnose. All diseased branches and leaves need to be cut off immediately, the growing environment should be improved, watering and fertilizing management for Michelia alba should be strengthened, and the corresponding fungicide should be sprayed to prevent and control the disease.
