How to grow white magnolia

1. Suitable light

White magnolia likes sunlight and cannot tolerate a shady growing environment. If it is cultivated in a place with insufficient light for a long time, the branches and leaves will become leggy, and flowering will also be problematic. At the same time, do not expose it to the strong light of midsummer, to prevent the young leaves from being scorched and turning yellow.

2. Watering

It is relatively sensitive to water, so the watering frequency must be controlled well. For outdoor planting, because there is natural rainfall, not too much water needs to be given; once the soil layer looks dry, water it appropriately. In late autumn, as the temperature gradually turns cooler, the water requirement clearly decreases, so the watering frequency can be reduced.

3. Fertilizing

Its flowering period is relatively long and the number of blooms is large, so fertilizer supplementation is very important. Add sufficient base fertilizer, apply fertilizer regularly during the growing season, and add a little more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer before and after the flowering period.

4. Proper pruning

During the cultivation process, be sure to pay attention to the pruning method. Once dead branches or diseased branches are observed, they need to be cut off in time. After the flowers fade, remove the spent flowers promptly to prevent excessive consumption of nutrients.

5. Pest and disease control

During the cultivation and management process, normal care is needed to prevent the occurrence of chlorosis and root rot. Attention should also be paid to pests, as it may be infected by aphids, scale insects, and others.
