When Is the Phalaenopsis Blooming Season

The blooming season of Phalaenopsis (moth orchid) falls in April to June each year and lasts 2 to 3 months, with high ornamental value. Before blooming, keep the daytime temperature at around 20°C; during the blooming period the temperature must not fall below 15°C. Generally, water every 2 to 5 days to keep the potting soil slightly moist. During the blooming period, apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizer as appropriate. When the weather turns cold in winter, stop fertilizing.

I. Blooming Season

The blooming season of Phalaenopsis is from April to June each year, lasting about 2 to 3 months. It often blooms around the Spring Festival and has very high ornamental value, making it very popular.

II. Care During the Blooming Season

1. Temperature

Before blooming, keep the daytime temperature at around 20°C, not too high, and maintain 18°C at night. After about a month and a half, the flower buds of Phalaenopsis will gradually form. During the flower bud differentiation stage, adjustments must be made: 25°C to 28°C during the day and 18°C to 20°C at night. During the blooming period, make sure the temperature does not fall below 15°C, otherwise the blooming time will be shortened.

2. Watering

Temperatures are relatively low during the blooming period, so do not water too much. Generally, water once every 2 to 5 days. Do not spray water on the leaves; just keep the potting soil slightly moist.

3. Fertilizing

During the blooming period, reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied and apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizer as appropriate to ensure more vigorous blooming and extend the blooming period. When temperatures drop in winter, stop fertilizing to avoid fertilizer damage.
