How to plant a newly bought General Orchid

General Orchid is a variety of hybrid large-flowered cymbidium. It has bright flowers, large blooms and a long flowering period, making it a very beautiful potted flowering plant. If a newly bought General Orchid comes with a pot and soil, it is recommended not to repot it in the short term. If the newly bought General Orchid is bare-rooted, then you will face the question of how to plant it.

When planting General Orchid, you need to pay attention to the following points:

1. Choice of flower pot. The General Orchid plant is relatively large, and its roots are relatively deep fleshy roots. To plant General Orchid, you need to choose a deeper flower pot, preferably a special orchid pot. Special orchid pots have large bottom holes and ventilation grooves, which are very good for drainage and air circulation in the potting soil;

2. Choice of soil. The roots of General Orchid are thick fleshy roots. It likes loose, breathable soil and fears waterlogging. For the soil used to plant General Orchid, you can generally choose two parts leaf mold, one part peat soil, one part volcanic rock, and one part coarse river sand, for reference;

3. Plant treatment. Before planting General Orchid, the plant should be given simple treatment: prune off rotted roots and leaves, then simply disinfect the whole clump. To disinfect the whole General Orchid plant, you can choose carbendazim mixed into a 1‰ solution for soaking, and the soaking time should not exceed half an hour. After disinfecting the plant, place the plant in a cool, ventilated place to air-dry. Once the roots of the General Orchid become slightly soft, it can be planted;

4. Care during the acclimatization period. After planting General Orchid is completed, the potted General Orchid should be placed in a cool, ventilated place for care. During the acclimatization period, it must not be exposed to direct sunlight. Keep the ambient air humidity relatively high, keep the potting soil slightly moist, and ensure good ventilation. During periods of higher temperature, General Orchid generally needs about half a month to acclimatize.

Summary: General Orchid has finer fleshy roots, so when planting, special attention should be paid to preparing the soil. The planting soil must have sufficiently good drainage, and the potting soil should be kept moist while also maintaining relatively high ambient humidity.
