What care points should be paid attention to when a Clivia (Clivia miniata) sends up a flower scape?

What to pay attention to when a Clivia sends up a flower scape

1. Supplement fertilizer

When the flower scape grows out, attention must be paid to supplementing nutrients. If the nutrient supply is insufficient, the flower scape will grow slowly. Before the flower scape emerges, promptly spray foliar fertilizer on the leaves, with phosphorus and potassium elements as the main components. In daily life, you can also dilute beer with clean water and use it to water the roots, which can also promote the growth of the flower scape.

2. Suitable temperature

When the plant pushes out the flower scape, a suitable temperature must be ensured, kept at around 15-25°C. If the temperature is too high or too low, it will affect the growth of the flower scape. If the surrounding temperature stays below 15°C, the plant will grow poorly, and the flower scape will naturally be difficult to push out. If the temperature is on the high side, above 30°C, the plant will stop growing, and the flower scape will naturally be difficult to grow out.

3. Day-night temperature difference

In addition to the normal temperature of the growing environment, attention must also be paid to the day-night temperature difference. If the temperature difference is too small, it will cause the flower scape to be trapped (jialei, "clamped arrow"). Especially in summer, this situation is more likely to occur. The temperature must be adjusted in time, and at night it can be placed outdoors for care.

4. Supplement water

During the growth stage when the flower scape grows out, the plant happens to need a lot of water. If water is lacking, growth will be hindered, and it naturally cannot grow out, so it is necessary to keep it moist and apply water regularly.
