When is the most suitable time to divide Clivia seedlings

The time for dividing and transplanting Clivia seedlings

How long should Clivia seedlings grow in the sowing container before it is better to divide them?

Generally, when a Clivia seedling grows one leaf and is about 2-3 cm tall, it can be divided. If divided too early, the seedlings have weak resistance and cannot withstand the disturbance of division, and are easily damaged during transplanting, reducing the survival rate of the seedlings. However, division should not be too late either, as dividing too late will affect the growth of the Clivia seedlings.

In the sowing container, the seedlings rely on external nutrients to supply their growth. If nutrients are insufficient and they cannot absorb nutrients from the nutrient soil, they will grow thin and weak due to malnutrition, and may even die.

Time for dividing mature Clivia plants

Division can generally be done indoors all year round, but it differs by region. In areas south of the Yangtze River basin, it is generally done around Qingming Festival, when the temperature is generally 15-22°C. For autumn division, choose between White Dew and Autumn Equinox, when the fruit is basically ripe, to prepare for the next year's flowering.

In northern regions, the division time is later than in the south and can be carried out according to temperature conditions.
