Why do orchids not send up flower spikes

? In other words, the commonly mentioned failure to form flower buds and failure to bloom?

There are many reasons orchids do not bloom, and Sheying Nongfu has discussed this several times in previous articles. They can roughly be summed up as follows:

1. Orchids like to grow under semi-shaded forest cover. Aside from needing shade from the scorching summer sun, orchids actually need plenty of sunlight even more. Photosynthesis allows the orchid plant to produce nutrients and can also increase the plant's disease resistance. Of course, flower bud formation and blooming in plants are also inseparable from the participation of sunlight.

2. Plants given nitrogen fertilizer over the long term rarely bloom, because the nitrogen element can stimulate leaf growth. For plants, this means stimulating their growth functions while inhibiting their reproductive functions. It is recommended to apply it together with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. In fact, phosphorus and potassium elements are very easy to supplement. During care, spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate at intervals is enough to get it done.

3. Long-term care in a relatively constant-temperature environment will also result in no flower bud formation and no blooming. Plant reproduction requires the stimulation of temperature and temperature differences. In a constant-temperature state without this stimulation, the orchid plant will focus only on growth and will not reproduce.

4. Overwatering, on the one hand, can cause root rot and lead to the death of the orchid plant. On the other hand, if the temperature is suitable, it will continuously stimulate the sprouting of leaf buds. Leaf buds emerging constantly will throw the orchid plant's growth signals into disorder.
