Autumn Rearing and Management of Laying Hens

Laying hens are a relatively popular chicken breed in China, and the market demand for eggs in China is very large, so the scale of laying hen farming is now very large. When raising laying hens, we should pay attention to reasonably adjusting the rearing and management methods according to seasonal changes. So as the temperature gradually drops and we enter autumn, how should they be managed? Below, the editor will briefly introduce autumn rearing and management of laying hens. Let's take a look!

1. Feed management

After a long laying period and the hot summer, the whole body of the flock is very fatigued. After entering autumn, because the temperature gradually drops, the appetite of laying hens will also increase somewhat. With food intake gradually increasing, and in order for the laying hens to get through the winter well, autumn is a key period for helping laying hens recover their strength. In order for the flock to recover as soon as possible, they should be provided with sufficient nutrition, the proportion of energy feed should be appropriately increased, and vitamins and other nutrients should be supplemented. Increase the content of nutrients such as vitamin C and vitamin E in the daily ration.

2. Supplemental lighting

After entering autumn, the daily sunshine duration will gradually decrease. In order to meet the lighting needs of laying hen growth, we should pay attention to maintaining the lighting time in the chicken house. Supplemental lighting should be provided appropriately in the morning and evening every day. Generally, turn on the lights at 5 o'clock every day, and then keep them on until turning off the lights at 21 o'clock every evening. After entering autumn, at least 15 hours of lighting should be maintained every day, and the light intensity should be kept stable. The lights should be turned on and off at fixed times every day so that the laying hens can adapt well, and the dust on the light bulbs should also be wiped off regularly.

3. Environmental control

The temperature difference between day and night in autumn is relatively large. Especially in the south, cold air often blows from the north to the south. Therefore, we should always pay attention to weather changes and do a good job of keeping warm at night. While keeping warm, we should also pay attention to appropriate ventilation. However, this should be done on the premise of ensuring the temperature in the chicken house, to prevent stress reactions in the flock caused by excessive temperature differences. At the same time, if ventilation is poor, air quality will be bad, which can easily lead to respiratory diseases in the flock.

4. Immunization and disinfection

Autumn is the peak period for the activity of various bacteria and also a period of high incidence of various diseases. Therefore, in autumn we should also pay attention to doing a good job of immunization and disinfection, and regularly disinfect the chicken house. Do a good job of preventive vaccination to prepare the laying hens for winter. After laying hens pass the peak laying period, their constitution in autumn is relatively weak, and they are prone to various infectious diseases. Therefore, in autumn, a round of epidemic prevention injection should be done well, plus one round of deworming. Formulate an immunization plan according to the age changes of the laying hens. Finally, appropriate disinfection with the chickens present should also be carried out, and the disinfectants should mainly be broad-spectrum, highly effective, and non-toxic.

The above is a brief introduction to autumn rearing and management of laying hens. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
