What are the methods for fattening lambs so they grow fast?
Newborn lambs all feed on milk to boost their immunity. Once they grow a bit and their digestive system becomes more adaptable, they need to be fed feed and grazed on green grass. This is a period of rapid growth, so fattening is essential. So how should you feed them during fattening, and what management points should you pay attention to, so that lambs gain weight normally? If you want them to grow quickly, then keep reading the content of this article!

1. Pre-feeding stage
The whole process is roughly divided into three stages. The first stage is the first three days, when only hay is fed so they adapt to the new environment. Then gradually moving to the next stage of seven to ten days, both concentrate feed and roughage are fed together, with slightly more concentrate than roughage. The third stage is ten to fifteen days, when concentrate and roughage are fed in equal amounts. After that, they enter the formal fattening period.
2. Feeding method
A lamb weighing 70 jin is considered a robust lamb, suitable for concentrate fattening, with intensive fattening for just over one month to about two months. Its body weight can reach 100 jin. Feed 40 to 90 grams of roughage per day. You can feed roughage and concentrate separately, or use an automatic feeder for mixed feeding. In a day, corn green feed can account for about 65% to 87%. But a lamb fattened for 80 days needs to gain about 130 grams per day. The food it eats each day should be no less than 5 jin.
3. Feed formula
Some formulas can be adjusted to 60% corn, 17% sunflower seed meal, 12% soybean meal, and 4% wheat bran. 1% additives, 4% yeast, 1% sodium bicarbonate, 1% salt, and 15.84% protein. The feed needs to be gradually increased as the lamb grows. You can also feed more protein feed. For example, legume straws such as soybean stalks, mung bean stalks, and peanut stalks. Corn stalks cannot be lacking, even though their protein content is not as high as the former.
4. Fattening management
Expand the activity space, raising one sheep in an area of 0.7 sq m, with close confinement. But because it is too crowded, in summer you must pay attention to setting up shade nets. Provide plenty of drinking water, and add vitamins to the water, which helps relieve heat. In winter, the space needs to be closed to keep it warm. Any stiff sheep that are useless for fattening can be culled. Feed a variety of feeds, and do not feed only a single type.
Lamb fattening generally has time requirements and weight requirements. The fattening goal requires sufficient feed and better feed combinations. During the fattening stage, you must not forget the usual management tasks.
