Causes and Solutions for Yellowing Leaves of Yunnan Pistache (Pistacia weinmannifolia)
Yunnan Pistache (Pistacia weinmannifolia) is a small shrub, both an ornamental plant and a medicinal plant, growing in forests and thickets on calcareous hillsides. In China it is mainly found in the southwestern region. Today many are cultivated for ornament, and since it is a small shrub, many are also grown in pots. The problem that often appears during cultivation is yellowing leaves. When this problem occurs, many people do not know what to do, so let's take a look now!

1. Excess water
When growing it, soil moisture must be controlled, and even more so when grown indoors, so if it is watered too much, water will accumulate, the soil will naturally lack oxygen, the roots cannot breathe and cannot absorb either. But if you do not water it, or water too little, and it lacks water, yellowing of the leaves will likewise occur. It is best to water by the rule of dry-then-wet, watering promptly once the soil has dried out completely; watering about once or twice a week is enough.
2. Poor soil
Research has found that Yunnan Pistache is suited to growing in acidic soil, and can also grow in neutral soil, but grows poorly in alkaline soil. If the soil is also compacted, the plant will grow poorly and easily develop yellow leaves. It is best to replace the soil, add river sand, and use it after testing the soil's acidity and alkalinity. Of course, if you are afraid of damaging the roots, you can simply add a few drops of vinegar; adding rice-washing water is equally effective. Loosen the soil regularly.
3. Nutrient deficiency
Soil nutrients are limited, and natural adjustment takes a long time, especially since potting soil is limited, so nutrients are even more restricted. It is best to fertilise frequently to meet the nutrient needs, so that the leaf colour will return to normal. But there is also the case of using too much chemical fertiliser, causing fertiliser burn and withered leaves. So it is best to fertilise roughly once every one to two months, applying fertiliser in appropriate amounts.
4. Light adjustment
Provide light according to the plant's needs. Yunnan Pistache is sun-loving and must receive eight hours of light every day; with insufficient light, photosynthesis is poor and the leaves will turn yellow. Prolonged weak light will also cause poor growth. But direct strong light is also not acceptable. It will directly scorch the leaves, and they will turn yellow before long. It can be given more light. When the light is strong, move it back indoors.
Yellowing leaves of Yunnan Pistache are mostly caused by improper environment and care. At this point you only need to make some adjustments and respond accordingly, and the problem of yellowing leaves can be improved.
