What causes death from bloating in pigs

During pig farming, various diseases often occur, and pig deaths are common, but the causes must be identified to prevent diseases from causing pig deaths again. The same goes for bloating in pigs, which often causes pig deaths, but there is more than one cause. We need to find the causes in order to treat the condition and prevent it in the future. As for the specific causes and prevention and treatment methods, we can continue to look at the following.

1. Escherichia coli

Newborn piglets are very susceptible to infection with Escherichia coli, which causes yellow scour and white scour, occurring in all four seasons, with a very high incidence of yellow scour and a much lower incidence of white scour. After onset, gastrointestinal function often stops, food nutrients cannot be digested, and fermentation begins in the intestines; fermentation produces gas, making death very likely. For this kind of bloating, only sensitive antibiotics can be used to kill the bacteria, but this cannot relieve the bloating, and death is still possible. The bloating problem is difficult to deal with, so prevention is best.

2. Infectious gastritis

It spreads through contact and occurs in winter and spring, and some cases can cause periodic infections; contact between pigs in a herd can transmit it. Currently there is no specific drug for treating bloating; only oral rehydration salts can be used, fed orally, along with antibiotic drugs, choosing gentamicin for treatment to prevent further infection. To prevent transmission, sick pigs need to be isolated.

3. Poor gastrointestinal health

With simple poor gastrointestinal health, if affected by high temperatures, or if the pig drinks cold water or eats cold food, spoiled food, or rotten and deteriorated feed, these can all cause gastrointestinal dysfunction in pigs. In severe cases, bloating will occur. In summer, fans must be prepared for cooling, and clean, sufficient drinking water must be provided. Food needs to be cooked before feeding, and overnight food must not be fed. Feed clean feed. Some traditional Chinese medicine preparations can be used.

4. Constipation due to illness

Sometimes when pigs are infected with certain diseases, it causes constipation, such as blue ear disease and swine fever. After severe constipation, bloating occurs, so in fact, in this situation, if there is a way to relieve constipation, the pig can be saved, and then taking some medication can cure it. But these diseases should all be treatable and preventable diseases.

If farmed pigs have bloating, apart from the effects of environment and food, most cases are caused by diseases. Therefore, doing good work in sanitation and epidemic prevention is very important, and timely treatment is key.
