How to grow Pyracantha seeds? A detailed guide to the planting method
Pyracantha mainly grows in Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, and the Yunnan-Guizhou-Sichuan region. It mainly produces red fruit, and the fruit is also called red fruit. It is edible, a wild fruit once eaten by the Red Army on the march, and is also called "army-saving grain." However, the fruit does not taste very good. Nowadays it is all cultivated as an ornamental plant. Growing Pyracantha mainly relies on sowing; let's explore exactly how to grow it.

1. Seed treatment
Pick wild seeds directly, soak them in water, and after a few days, once the flesh has softened, rub and wash off the flesh directly. After rinsing several times, take the clean seeds and dry and store them, because the seeds mature in autumn, but sowing must wait until the following spring. Before sowing, soak the seeds in gibberellin at a certain concentration, then directly open furrows in the seedbed and sow evenly, covering with soil at a suitable depth; these should be applied flexibly.
2. Building the seedbed
Build the seedbed in a rectangular shape. The furrow depth is about 8 cm, and the width can be about enough for one person to pass through. The seedbed width is 1.2 m, and the length can be no more than 8 m, then build it according to the terrain. However, generally if it is too long it is not good for drainage. If the terrain is very long, it can be broken up in the middle, with furrows opened and paths left. The soil must be broken up finely, with no large clods of mud, or the seeds will have difficulty germinating.
3. Sowing method
Directly open furrows 5 cm wide in the seedbed, leaving 3 cm gaps, open several furrows, and sow, requiring direct even sowing. You can also skip opening furrows and directly scatter the seeds evenly in the seedbed, then prepare separate soil to cover them completely. There is also direct seedling raising in seedling trays; raising seedlings is easy this way, with one seed per cell, or two seeds per container. This requires preparing sand, peat, and soil mixed into a nutrient soil. But it is easy to manage and easy to keep moist.
4. Seedling raising method
After the seeds show white, continue to keep them moist; after sprouting, reduce the water. After the seedlings grow true leaves, you can water once a day, and after they grow taller, water once every two days. When they reach 5 cm, you can add dilute fertilizer water to provide nutrients and finally promote growth. If too much water is given, the soil in the seedling tray is prone to washing away, so you can add sterilized soil. For ground planting, thinning is needed, removing weak and diseased seedlings. Also pay attention to preventing and controlling seedling-stage diseases.
Pyracantha is a wild plant on the mountains, but it has been used in modern garden landscape shaping, as an ornamental plant, and as a bonsai plant. As a fruit-viewing plant, this is the embodiment of its value. The above is all about the seed planting method for Pyracantha.
