How to Prevent and Control Leaf Spot Disease in Clivia

Symptoms: This disease mainly infects the leaves. In the early stage of infection, small brown spots appear on the leaves, gradually expanding into large, irregular yellow-brown to gray-brown lesions. The diseased area is slightly sunken, with the edges slightly raised. In the later stage, the lesions dry up and develop small black dots on their surface.

Pathogen and Disease Pattern: The pathogen is a type of fungus. During cultivation, when too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are relatively insufficient, this disease is prone to occur. Under conditions of high temperature and dryness, or when scale insects cause severe damage, leaf spot disease is likely to occur and cause harm.

Prevention and Control Methods

1. Remove diseased leaves and diseased plant debris. Reduce sources of infection.

2. Control scale insects, avoid pest damage, and reduce infection.

3. In the early stage of the disease, spray with 50% carbendazim 1000x solution, 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 1000x solution, or 50% amobam 1000x solution for control.
