How to scientifically sow clivia seeds

Clivia has a low seed-setting rate through self-pollination, so hand pollination is necessary to obtain seeds. When sowing, pay attention to the following points:

① Post-ripening of the seeds. When the fruit skin turns completely red, cut off the fruit together with the flower stalk and hang it indoors. After half a month of post-ripening, once the flesh has softened, take out the seeds, peel off the outer thin membrane, wash them clean with water and let them dry, and they are ready for sowing.

② Seed pretreatment. Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water (around 40°C) for a full day and night, then take them out ready for sowing.

③ Sowing depth and placement. When sowing, the hilum must face downward, and sowing should not be too deep - the surface of the seed should be level with the soil.

④ Potting soil and care for sowing. The potting soil for sowing needs to be a loose leaf-mold mixture, and the sowing container must be more than 15 cm deep. After sowing, water thoroughly, cover with glass to keep the potting soil at 20-25°C, and seedlings will emerge in about 1.5 months.
