Precautions for formulating pig feed

When raising pigs, the formulation of pig feed is extremely important. Many people, in order to improve pig growth and promote rapid fattening, mainly use concentrated feed. Although concentrated feed is effective, it is more expensive and affects the pigs' requirements for feed, so pig feed must be properly matched to reduce costs while ensuring the pigs eat well. So what should be noted when formulating pig feed? Let's find out together.

1. Comprehensive nutrition

When raising pigs, the quality and nutrition of pig feed directly affect pig growth, so during breeding, pay close attention to the feeding situation of the pig herd. Commonly used feeds in pig farming include green feed, concentrated feed, and roughage. When feeding, we must reasonably match them according to the pigs' growth and feeding conditions to ensure the feed is sufficiently nutritious and meets the nutritional needs of pig growth. Only by ensuring comprehensive nutrition and suitability for pig consumption can normal pig growth be guaranteed and breeding benefits expanded.

2. Feeding amount

The daily feeding amount is also closely related to pig growth. When feeding, we can use the dry matter of the feed to measure the feed volume. Generally, for every 100 kg of pig growth, about 3-4 kg of feed dry matter is needed. Then the daily ratio of green feed, concentrated feed, and roughage should be reasonably adjusted according to actual conditions, generally 5:2:3, but this is not fixed and can be reasonably adjusted according to the pigs' actual growth conditions.

3. Feed palatability

When feeding, also pay attention to ensuring the palatability of the feed. If the feed has high protein content and low crude fiber, it is high-quality feed. Conversely, if the crude protein content is low and the fiber is high, it is not easy for pigs to digest after eating, and the palatability is poor, which will seriously affect pig growth and development. Therefore, during breeding, great attention must be paid, trying to feed more green feed and reduce the feeding of roughage. At the same time, ensure the quality of the roughage fed together with green feed, so as to ensure nutrient absorption by pigs from all aspects and promote growth.

4. Different growth stages

When raising pigs, a single feed should not be fed for a long time. It should be reasonably adjusted according to the pigs' different growth stages and purposes. For example, for breeding boars, fattening pigs, and piglets, concentrated feed should be the main feed, with concentrated feed accounting for about half of the daily ration. For some replacement gilts and breeding sows, green feed should be the main feed, also accounting for about half of the feeding amount. Reasonably adjusting feed types and proportions according to growth stages is the key point to ensuring healthy growth and reproduction of the pig herd.
