The gardenia flowers that He Jiong sang about. That faint sadness of youth seems to drift around again, like the faint fragrance of gardenia, wisp by wisp, stirring the heart. The flower language of the gardenia includes eternal love and promise, a very beautiful sustenance, blending with joy, flowers and leaves lingering together, in its silence, I seem to read the taste of the years.

When the wind blows, the branches and leaves sway back and forth, and the gardenia blooms, forming a beautiful scenic line. I think, if the gardenia were a woman, she would surely be a shy young girl, gentle and delicate, a lovely petite beauty.

The gardenia itself is a plant that resists extraction. The perfume industry has so far been unable to successfully extract natural gardenia essential oil, and can only use synthetic compounds or blend other essential oils with similar fragrances to reproduce the scent of gardenia as much as possible. So although the gardenia has a rich fragrance and is not rare, it is seldom used in perfumes.

I. When Does the Gardenia Bloom

The gardenia's blooming period is in spring and summer, and it can bloom continuously from May to June until August, but there are also cases where it is earlier or relatively later. Different regions have different blooming times due to different climates.

II. How Long Is the Gardenia's Blooming Period

Actually, the gardenia's blooming period is relatively long; one flower can bloom for 3-5 days. Sometimes, a larger plant can have a blooming period as long as 1 month.

III. Blooming Period Management for Potted Gardenias

1. Gardenias like fertilizer, and it is best to apply well-rotted organic fertilizer with balanced and mild fertilizer strength, applying thin fertilizer frequently. Before the gardenia blooms, apply liquid fertilizer about once every half month. During the bud stage, water once to twice with a 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution, and before flowering, at the bud stage, and at the swelling stage, spray with Huaduo Zhuangdi Ling respectively, which can promote strong gardenia buds, plump petals, bright flower color, rich fragrance, and a longer blooming period. It can make the flowers plump and the fragrance rich.

2. Gardenias like a moist environment, but if watered too much, causing too much water in the potting soil, the air in the soil will decrease, the roots will be injured, the leaves will turn black, and leaves will drop; water timely and appropriately according to soil moisture conditions. Gardenias also especially need iron nourishment; iron deficiency can cause chlorosis.

3. Too strong light can cause gardenia leaves to turn yellow or even fall off, so in summer it is best to keep gardenias in a well-ventilated, high-humidity, and partially light-transmitting sparse forest or shade shed.

4. After the gardenias fade, prune the branches short in time to encourage new branches to sprout. Except for shading from strong midday light from July to August and during the winter dormancy period, gardenias generally need to be kept in sunlight to produce abundant flowers and lush leaves.

IV. Precautions During the Gardenia Blooming Period:

1. Do not water the flower buds when blooming, as they rot easily.

2. When blooming, the pot can be moved indoors or to a slightly cooler place for viewing, which can extend the blooming period by 2-3 days.

3. Do not fertilize during the blooming period, otherwise it will cause bud drop and flower drop.
