Succulent - Echeveria 'Cimette': morphology, habits, and key care points!

Chinese name: Binghe Shiji (Ice Age)

Alternative name: Ice Age

Latin scientific name: Echeveria Cimette

Family and genus: Crassulaceae, Echeveria genus

Place of origin and distribution: South Africa

The succulent Echeveria 'Cimette' is a hybrid of Echeveria pulidonis and the Dongyun line, and is very close to Echeveria 'Christmas'. There are two kinds of succulents called Ice Age, so growers need to analyze carefully.

Echeveria 'Cimette' is a succulent of the Crassulaceae family, Echeveria genus. There is another succulent also called Ice Age, with the Latin scientific name Echeveria Ice Age. At present, Echeveria Cimette is not yet very popular in China, and its numbers are relatively scarce. Its red-edged trait means it inherits the characteristics of Echeveria pulidonis, with leaves tightly connected and difficult to remove, and the leaves are waxy, which is also a notable characteristic of the Dongyun line.

In Japan and South Korea, the Latin name of wax peony was mistakenly given as Echeveria nuda. In fact, Echeveria nuda is another native succulent of the Echeveria genus, while wax peony is a horticultural variety whose parents come from the cross of Echeveria agavoides (the original species of Dongyun) x Sedum cuspidatum, so in Europe it is directly labeled as Echeveria agavoides x Sedum cuspidatum (which shows the rigor of Europeans).

Cultivation points:

A very robust variety that needs sufficient sunlight and careful watering to keep the plant compact. It has a large taproot, so watering must be handled well; excessive watering easily causes the roots to split or rot. Ensure good ventilation and heat dissipation. In winter or at night, the temperature should preferably not be lower than 10°C. In dry conditions, it can briefly tolerate -4°C.

Propagation of Echeveria 'Cimette':

Echeveria 'Cimette' is generally grown from seed propagation or grafting. Other methods are relatively unlikely to succeed. The above is about the morphology, habits, and key care points of the succulent Echeveria 'Cimette'. If you want to learn more about how to grow Ice Age, growers are welcome to add comments below.
