Prevention and control methods for Cymbidium mosaic virus

Key identification points: Cymbidium mosaic virus is a whole-plant disease caused by a virus. Because the virus species differ, the disease symptoms vary considerably. Generally, new leaves are paler in color with slender longitudinal streaks, while old leaves can develop dark brown necrotic streaks, ring-spot patterns, and various other mosaic symptoms.

Occurrence characteristics: The pathogens are multiple viruses, mainly CyMV, ORSV, CaYMV, and others. The virus is transmitted by sap contact, and plant division and virus-carrying seed bulbs are the main pathways for disease spread.

Prevention and control methods:

(1) Tools used for division and transplanting must be disinfected; use a 10-fold dilution of trisodium phosphate to disinfect seed bulbs and tools.

(2) Before the disease occurs or after diseased plants are found, spray with a 400-fold dilution of 5% Jun Du Qing aqueous solution or a 500-fold dilution of 20% Du Ke Xing wettable powder.
