What should be noted when deworming pigs?
Pork is the meat consumed in the largest quantity each year in our country, so the scale of pig farming in our country is very large. Although the scale of pig farming is large, when farming, all kinds of preparatory work for farming must be done well. Among these, deworming is something we cannot ignore, and there are many aspects of pig deworming that require our attention. If deworming is done improperly, it will affect the growth of pigs and reduce profits. So today, the editor has brought you the precautions for deworming pigs. Let's take a look together!

1. Selection of deworming drugs
When deworming pigs, first of all, the selection of deworming drugs must be done well. We should choose deworming drugs according to the common parasites in pig farming, such as Sarcoptes scabiei, Ascaris suum, and so on. Deworming drugs must be sufficiently safe, highly effective, and produced by legitimate manufacturers. When deworming, many friends most commonly use ivermectin, but ivermectin mainly targets Sarcoptes scabiei and has no very obvious effect on Ascaris suum, Trichuris trichiura, and so on. At the same time, drugs with strong toxicity such as trichlorfon should be used as little as possible or not at all. When deworming, attention should be paid to controlling the dosage well, neither too much nor too little, to avoid poor results or affecting the deworming effect.
2. Deworming time
Deworming time also requires our special attention. We need to reasonably adjust the deworming time according to the growth stage of the pigs. When deworming piglets, it is advisable to deworm at about 45-50 days of age. After medication, the worms can be killed, but there is no effect on the eggs. Therefore, in order to ensure the control effect, about one week after the first deworming, medication should be given again, lasting for about 7 days. Only then can all the eggs also be killed. Growing pigs also cannot ignore deworming, generally at about 4 months of age. If it is administered orally, then before feeding, the pigs should skip one meal to encourage the pigs to finish all the feed containing the drug.
3. Check the deworming effect
After completing the deworming work, the effect of the deworming agent will not show immediately. Generally, it will gradually show its effect about half a month after deworming. Therefore, everyone should not be anxious, and should not repeatedly use medication, as this will affect the growth of the pigs. When deworming, we should pay attention to observing the condition of the pigs. If the pigs show various adverse phenomena such as poisoning, vomiting, and diarrhea during deworming, they should be promptly isolated from the pig house, and then the sick pigs should move around more to reduce the poisoning effect. In severe cases, drugs such as adrenaline should be used promptly for emergency rescue.
4. Eliminate parasites
If you want to completely solve the parasite problem, then deworming alone is far from enough. Currently, there are almost no deworming drugs on the market that can kill eggs. After deworming, the eggs will be excreted by the pigs. If the excrement is not handled in time, it will have a great impact on environmental pollution. It will also cause parasites to occur in the pig farm year after year. Therefore, attention should be paid to doing a good job in cleaning up pig excrement and carrying out harmless treatment such as fermentation and incineration. After about two months of fermentation, this excrement can also be used as fertilizer for crops, achieving two goals at once.
The above is a brief introduction to the precautions for deworming pigs. Although the work of deworming pigs is important, it should not be carried out blindly. Adverse phenomena such as poisoning should be prevented to ensure the normal growth of pigs. That is all for today's introduction.
