Five key points for winter care of clivia, pay attention to these small details to prevent root rot
Light: Although clivia is a semi-shade plant, in winter it should still be placed in a sunny spot indoors, and every 10 days turn the pot 180 degrees so the leaves grow evenly and look neat.
Temperature: The suitable growing temperature for clivia is 15?25°C. The day-night temperature difference should be about 10 degrees. If the temperature exceeds 30°C, the leaves become thin and slender. The flowering period is short and the color is pale. If the temperature is below 5, growth stops.
Humidity: Indoor air is generally drier in winter, so you should often spray water on the leaves of clivia to create a humid microclimate. However, when the flower stalk is emerging, do not spray water on the leaves, so as to avoid causing the stalk to get stuck.
Watering: In winter, water once every three days to keep the potting soil moist. Do not frequently cut off water, let water accumulate, or water only halfway.
Fertilizing: In winter, clivia should be given well-fermented cake fertilizer once a month, and liquid fertilizer once a week. In the 2 months before flowering, mainly apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote the emergence of the flower stalk and blooming, while nitrogen fertilizer should not be applied too much.
