Notes on raising fish in summer

Fish is a major pillar of aquaculture in China, and there are many kinds of fish, each with a certain farming area in China. As summer gradually arrives, the temperature gets higher and higher, and the management of fish farming becomes increasingly important. There are also many things we need to pay attention to when raising fish in summer. So today I have brought you the notes on raising fish in summer, let's take a look!

1. Reasonable fertilization

Summer is not only a critical period for bait feeding, but also a peak growth period for fish, a time when oxygen consumption is relatively high. During this period, farmyard manure should not be used for fertilizing fish ponds; inorganic fertilizer should be the main type to avoid water pollution. When fertilizing in summer, the amount of fertilizer should be reasonably controlled according to various conditions such as the pond's water quality and the weather. Water transparency should be maintained at around 25cm. Fertilization should be carried out on warm, sunny mornings, and because the nitrogen content in the water increases in summer, the fertilizer should mainly be water-soluble phosphate fertilizer, applied in small amounts more frequently, and the water should be partially replaced after fertilization.

2. Regulating water quality

Water quality management in fish ponds in summer is also very important; if it is managed poorly even slightly, the water can easily deteriorate. After summer arrives, we should frequently observe the pond water conditions and regularly change the water and add fresh water. This can not only increase the dissolved oxygen content in the water and add nutrients such as iron and manganese salts, but also discharge harmful substances metabolized by the fish in the pond water, ensuring a balance of nutrients in the pond water. Under normal circumstances, each fish pond should have its water changed at least about 3 times per month, with each water change kept at a depth of 30 cm.

3. Bait feeding

In summer, due to high temperatures and other environmental factors, the feeding amount of fish will drop significantly. Therefore, in summer, attention should be paid to controlling bait feeding, and the feeding amount can be kept at about 8/10 of the usual amount. Do not put in too much, because when the temperature rises, the water temperature will inevitably be affected and rise as well. If too much is put in and the fish do not finish eating it, and the leftover bait is not removed in time, then the spoiled bait will cause water quality to deteriorate and breed a large number of pathogenic bacteria, leading to an increased disease incidence. Moreover, if the fish eat too much, it can easily cause gastrointestinal diseases. The specific feeding amount should still be flexibly adjusted according to weather changes, water quality, feeding and various other conditions.

4. Frequent pond inspections

After summer arrives, we should inspect the pond frequently to avoid undesirable phenomena such as fish gasping at the surface and pond turnover. Every morning after getting up, check whether the fish are gasping at the surface; after lunch, check the fish's feeding situation. Then at sunset, conduct a comprehensive inspection. We should ensure good water quality and reduce farming density. If the gasping at the surface is severe, then part of the mature fish should be caught and sold in time. If there is an excessive amount of plankton in the fish pond, then part of it should be killed in time to reduce dissolved oxygen consumption.

The above is a brief introduction to the notes on raising fish in summer. The notes on raising fish in summer are actually the management work we need to do well in summer; only by strengthening management can we ensure the normal growth of fish. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
