How to scientifically fertilize clivia

Clivia likes fertilizer, but excessive fertilization can cause root rot. The general fertilization method is to apply base fertilizer when repotting, apply fermented solid cake fertilizer once a month in spring, autumn and winter, and apply organic liquid fertilizer once a week. Commonly used solid fertilizers are mainly various oilseed seeds that are fried and crushed before application; well-rotted and fermented cake fertilizer and bone meal can also be used. The amount of fertilizer applied should be determined according to the size of the plant and the number of leaves. When fertilizing, push aside the potting soil and bury the fertilizer 2 cm into the soil to avoid direct contact between the fertilizer and the root system. Commonly used liquid fertilizer is mainly the juice fermented from crushed bones, beans, river shrimp, etc.; take the supernatant and dilute it 20-40 times before application. Fertilization is generally done in the early morning, and it should be poured along the edge of the pot to avoid applying it onto the plant. After applying liquid fertilizer, a small amount of water should be poured promptly to dissolve the fertilizer and rinse the newly grown fleshy roots. According to different seasons, the type of fertilizer applied should be emphasized differently. In autumn, apply more nitrogen fertilizer such as soybean cake; in winter and spring, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer such as sesame and bone meal; in summer, apply more foliar topdressing of 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate or 0.5% superphosphate. Although foliar topdressing can be carried out all year round, spraying on the leaves in summer not only makes seedlings grow faster, produce more scapes and larger flowers, but also has a cooling effect.
