1. Unplug the power to the rearing equipment, scoop the koi into a container with water at a temperature similar to the original, and place an air stone from an air pump in it to add oxygen, to prevent the koi from suffering oxygen deprivation if the water change takes too long.
2. Drain the stale water in the tank with a siphon tube, take out the pebbles and aquatic plants and clean and disinfect them (you can use mild salt water or potassium permanganate solution).
3. Rinse the inside and outside of the koi glass tank clean, and soak and rinse the koi tank with a small amount of mild salt water or potassium permanganate solution, then rinse it clean again after disinfection, and fill it with fresh water.
4. After putting the aquatic plants and pebbles back in place, put the koi back into the tank.
Under normal circumstances, the method of changing all the water is not adopted, to prevent the koi from becoming unsuitable and having accidents due to differences in water quality, and also because mechanical injury is likely to occur during catching, giving disease a chance to invade.
2. General water change: This means once every 1 to 3 days, mainly using a siphon tube to remove the feces, leftover bait and stale water in the koi tank.

During the operation of changing the water in a koi pond (tank), you must be gentle, slow and steady, to avoid injuring the koi. Even more, do not stir the pond water with force, to prevent water pressure from damaging the koi's internal tissues.

During the process of adding fresh water, the water flow should be slow, to avoid excessive flow speed creating impact force that damages the koi's body surface.
