Yellow Bekko, also called “Yellow Bekko Utsuri”, belongs to the Bekko class and is a fairly commonkoi variety. The body of the Yellow Bekko is made up of two colors, yellow and black, with yellow as the base color and black patches covering the yellow, giving the whole fish a golden-black appearance. It is easy to identify and quite eye-catching.
The scales of the Yellow Bekko look very distinct and also affect the overall appearance of the fish. These scales start fromthe koi'sshoulder area and extend all the way to the front edge of the tail fin, with four or five rows of scales arranged in a staggered yet highly orderly pattern.
This slightly arched back (the degree of the curve varies with the fish's body shape) gives the Yellow Bekko a trait that truly lives up to its name: it covers the fish's body like armor plating, imposing and majestic. Yellow Bekko with this feature are relatively rare, because it requires the fish's black patches to fit exactly between the scales, and the depth and intensity of the color must also set off the yellow base beneath.

Yellow Bekko easily creates a visual illusion, and this coloration makes the fish's body look longer and more robust than it actually is. It is a great choice to appropriately pair a few Yellow Bekko in a pond; it also carries the auspicious meaning of bringing in wealth and treasure, being both pleasing to the eye and satisfying people's expectations for good fortune.
In addition, in terms of swimming posture, the Yellow Bekko is also highly enjoyable to watch. This is mainly thanks to the koi's body color and its body shape. A pond needs both serene, elegant and gentle koi varieties with a more artistic feel, such as Kohaku and Shiro Utsuri, and koi that look more dynamic and give a sense of power, such as Showa Sanshoku and Bekko.
