Koi Breeding Filtration System and the Fastest Treatment for Saprolegniasis
What is the fastest way to treat saprolegniasis in koi? Koi saprolegniasis is caused by a fungal infection of injured koi skin. In water, the fungal bodies appear cotton-like, but outside the water no symptoms are visible, so diagnosis should be made by observing in the water....

Prevention and Treatment
① In theaquarium, add malachite green at a concentration of 0.2 mg/L or methylene blue at a concentration of 0.5 mg/L to kill the fungus.
② Place the diseased koi in formalin at a concentration of 100 mg/L and bathe it for 15-20 minutes, then add streptomycin sulfate to the aquarium so that the concentration in the water reaches 5 mg/L.
③ Carefully remove the diseased koi and bathe it in 2% saline solution for 10-20 minutes, 2 times a day, for 1 consecutive week.
④ In daily keeping, be sure to remove sharp aquarium decorations to reduce the conditions under which koi can be injured. At the same time, when the water temperature is too low, adjust the rearing water to a 4‰ dilute saline solution, which can effectively prevent saprolegniasis.
⑤ Dissolve 0.3 g of methylene blue in 100 kg of water, and soak the fish body for 10-20 minutes; after several days, the hyphae can be seen shedding.
⑥ Soak with a 2 mg/L potassium permanganate solution plus a 5% saline solution for 20-30 minutes, once a day.
⑦ Soak the diseased fish in a chlorine dioxide solution at a concentration of 5 mg/L until it recovers.
⑧ Use 1.3-2 g of gallnut per cubic meter of water. First crush the gallnut into powder, add about 10 times the amount of water, boil and then continue boiling for 2-3 minutes, dilute with water, and splash it over the entire pond.
Saprolegniasis. Grayish-white, cotton-like hyphae parasitize the body surface or fin rays of the diseased fish. Oral vitamin E, fed at 0.4-0.6 g per 10 kg of fish body weight per day, can enhance resistance; for the diseased fish, a mixture of 400-500 mg/L saline solution and 400-500 mg/L sodium bicarbonate solution can be sprayed.
