1. Courtyard breeding pond
(1) Courtyard breedingkoigenerally uses a square, rectangular or circular concrete pond, and the breeding pond can be built on open ground in the courtyard or on the roof
(2) Build the pond in a place that is easy to drain and discharge waste, ventilated and sunny, with sufficient water source, convenient water supply and drainage, and relatively close to the house, which is good for viewing and daily management.
(3) The specifications of a courtyard breeding pond are generally 15—40m², with a water depth of 1.2—2.5m. The water body should not be too shallow, otherwise the water temperature is easily affected by weather and other environmental factors, which is bad for the health of koi.
2. Matching of bred varieties
In terms of visual effect, it is usually based on one or more varieties of Kohaku koi,Taisho Sankekoi, and Showa koi.
Match with other brightly colored varieties, such as Ogon koi, Platinum Ogon koi, Kigoi koi, Shiro Utsuri koi, Aochiba koi, etc.

3. Breeding management
Feed feeding: Koi raised in courtyards are best fed artificial compound feed supplemented with natural color-enhancing substances.
Feed feeding should follow the "four fixed" principles, namely "fixed amount", "fixed time", "fixed quality" and "fixed location".
Treatment of oil film on the water surface: A layer of oil film or foam sometimes appears on the water surface of the breeding pond, which is not good for the growth of koi. Usually, a commercially available oil film remover is used, or all the water is changed and the pond is scrubbed clean.
4. Management in different seasons
Spring: The temperature is unstable, so keep the water temperature stable, and also pay attention to disinfecting the breeding pond to prevent the spread of disease.
Summer: The temperature is relatively high, so prevent the water temperature from rising; prevent aquatic plankton and animals and plants from multiplying and growing in large numbers. It is best to install an ultraviolet sterilizing lamp in the breeding pond to maintain good water quality.
Autumn: With clear autumn skies, this is the best season for koi growth. More feed should be given so that the koi can store up strength and safely overwinter.
Winter: The weather is cold, the temperature drops, and the water temperature also drops, sometimes approaching freezing point. Koi can safely overwinter outdoors.
