1. KeepingKoiAquarium Selection and Setup
(1) You should choose an aquarium that suits your own circumstances and budget rather than choosing blindly, but do pick one that is slightly larger to givekoienough room to move around.
(2) Koi have a very high oxygen demand, so the aquarium needs to be equipped with a water filter and an aeration pump.
(3) The aquarium should also have appropriate lighting equipment; light is very important for the growth of koi, and it also enhances the viewing experience.
2. Koi Food and Feeding Methods
(1) Koi are omnivorous fish and can be fed with conventional natural food, but it is even better to supplement with artificial compound feed containing natural color-enhancing substances.
(2) Feeding must strictly follow the "four fixed principles", namely "fixed time, fixed amount, fixed quality, fixed location (the same spot)".
(3) Increase or decrease the amount of food appropriately according to changes in weather and climate.
3.Koi BreedingWater Quality and Temperature
(1) The water temperature is generally best kept between 20°C and 25°C.
(2) Change the water regularly according to the specific conditions of the aquarium; usually, change the water once every 15-20d, replacing 1/3-1/2 of the total volume, with a temperature difference of no more than 1.5°C. Before adding new water, make sure it has been fully aerated and filtered.
(3) If the water in the aquarium becomes cloudy and whitish, measures should be taken promptly or the water should be completely replaced.
Finally, a reminder that when keeping koi, everyone must be careful and maintain a good mindset.
