Black-Boned Sheep Breeding Technology

The black-boned sheep is a precious breed among sheep, and few people have come into contact with it. It has high nutritional value and is well received by the market. At the same time, it also has the advantages of strong adaptability, tolerance to roughage, and strong disease resistance, and is deeply loved by farmers. So how should black-boned sheep be raised? Let us learn about it together.

1. Site construction

For the site requirements for raising black-boned sheep, the sheep shed should be built in a place facing south, with sufficient sunlight and good air circulation. The building standard for the sheep shed is that the roof does not leak rain, the four sides are not drafty, and the ground is not damp. If there is an old sheep shed, it can be repaired. The sheep shed environment should be dry and sanitary, with good warmth retention. Only after entering the severe winter can a good wintering environment be provided for the black-boned sheep. In order to prevent the invasion of "sneak winds," straw curtains or cotton door curtains can be hung at the exits and ventilation openings of the sheep shed.

2. Grazing

Farmers should graze reasonably. In places where conditions permit, except for windy and snowy weather in the season, grazing should be maintained every day. Especially in early winter, when plants are abundant, grazing should be done promptly, going out late and returning early, so that the sheep can eat more green grass. Grazing locations should choose pastureland that is sheltered from the wind and facing the sun, with high and dry terrain and good water sources. This ensures sufficient drinking water and allows the sheep to walk less and eat more grass. Ewes should be placed in nearby pastureland, growing sheep in farther grassland, and thin and weak sheep should be grouped separately and placed in places rich in green grass. During grazing, supervision should be strengthened, and sheep should not be allowed to eat grass that is muddy, frosted, or rain-soaked, so as to avoid causing diarrhea. In winter, grazing is difficult to meet the nutritional needs of the flock, so concentrated feed should be supplemented appropriately. Generally, half a day of grazing and half a day of supplementary feeding can not only reduce physical consumption, but also help maintain and increase body condition.

3. Reproduction

During reproduction, the number of lambs produced should be increased as much as possible, and feeding management should be improved to shorten the non-pregnant period of ewes, striving for 2 births in 1 year or 3 births in 2 years. Two months after mating, pregnancy can be determined by feeling the fetus. For non-pregnant ewes, a threaded vaginal sponge plug can be dipped in hormones, then coated with antibiotics, and inserted into the vagina to stimulate estrus. Ovulation-promoting hormone can also be injected to stimulate estrus. Alternatively, ewes and rams can be kept in the same pen, given 20 hours of light per day, and after two months switched to natural drying, after which they can come into estrus 2-3 times, and the conception rate is extremely high.

4. Deworming and epidemic prevention

Regularly carry out deworming and epidemic prevention. This is because black-boned sheep are very prone to parasitic diseases during rearing, which leads to slow growth, loan interest, and in severe cases can cause death. Therefore, farmers should regularly deworm and administer medicated baths according to the prevalence of parasites. Generally, the first deworming is carried out in spring, and another in autumn. Medicated baths are also given once each in spring and autumn, chosen on sunny days, with the water temperature controlled at 35 degrees. Use 0.5%-2% trichlorfon plus sulfur for bathing for 1-2 minutes. The effect is relatively good.
