What are the precautions for goldfish breeding?

Precautions for goldfish breeding

Goldfish are one of the most common ornamental fish, sell very well on the market, and have very broad breeding prospects. There are now many large-scale goldfish farms, but how do these farms breed goldfish? When carrying out large-scale artificial goldfish breeding, what issues need attention? How much do you know about this? Let us take a look together below.

1. Cleaning the breeding pond

Before breeding goldfish, we should not rush to stock the fry. The first thing to do is clean and disinfect the breeding pond. For disinfecting the breeding pond, quicklime is generally used, or a pond-clearing agent specially made for goldfish. After disinfection, drain all the water from the pond, wait until the agent has volatilized, then fill it with fresh water. After using the pond water for a trial breeding, put the goldfish fry into the breeding pond. In addition, during the later breeding process, we also need to frequently clean the breeding pond and disinfect it regularly to improve the goldfish breeding environment, thereby increasing goldfish production and ultimately improving breeding benefits.

2. Water temperature

Goldfish have relatively high requirements for water temperature. If the water temperature is unsuitable, the mortality or disease rate of the stocked goldfish will increase, and the reproductive capacity of the goldfish will decline. Therefore, during breeding we must strictly regulate and control the water temperature in the breeding pond. The most suitable water temperature for goldfish survival is 18 to 22 degrees, and we need to keep the water temperature within this range. The water temperature must not be lower than 15 degrees at minimum, and must not exceed 28 degrees at maximum, otherwise it will seriously affect the growth and reproduction of goldfish.

3. Feeding

Feeding goldfish is something we need to pay great attention to. It is not that the more you feed, the better they grow, nor that if the feed is mainly concentrated feed they grow faster, nor that the fatter the goldfish, the healthier they are. Therefore, we need to feed them reasonably. When feeding, we should feed at fixed times, in fixed amounts, at fixed locations, and with fixed quality. According to the growth condition of the goldfish, divide them reasonably into groups, and prepare feed reasonably according to the different groups.

4. Water quality

Water quality issues require great attention. If the water quality does not meet standards, the survival rate of goldfish breeding is relatively low, since goldfish cannot survive without water. Under normal circumstances, we change the water about once every five days, and each time we change the water we cannot replace all of it. A portion of the old water must be retained. If it is all replaced with fresh water, goldfish are not likely to survive. Also, after feeding, promptly remove the leftover feed residue to avoid polluting the water quality, or letting the goldfish prey on spoiled feed. Finally, it is best to install an oxygenation device in the breeding pond, or prepare an oxygen supply agent, to replenish the oxygen content in the pond water at any time.

The above points are the issues that need attention when breeding goldfish. If there is anything you still do not understand, you can leave a message below for consultation.
