Precautions for Hamster Farming

The hamster is a very cute small animal and is currently a very popular small pet among women on the market. Raising a single hamster is not easy, so is large-scale hamster farming easy? How do those hamster farmers generally raise hamsters? In the process of large-scale farming, what problems do we need to pay attention to? How should we raise them to ensure the yield and quality of hamsters? Let us learn about this together below.

1. Farming Environment

Hamsters have certain requirements for the farming environment. Hamsters are very intolerant of heat, so the farming environment should generally be chosen in a relatively cool place; secondly, the ventilation conditions of the farm must be good, and the air circulation in the breeding room must be smooth. Also, hamsters are rather timid, so the surroundings of the farm must be quite quiet, otherwise hamsters are very prone to illness. Finally, we also need to reasonably regulate and control the temperature, light, and humidity of the farm to ensure a good environment for the hamsters to live in.

2. Feeding Management

The hamster is an omnivorous animal, and the types of food and feed for it are also diverse, but what we need to note is that not everything can be eaten, and not everything can be eaten in large amounts. For example, feed less high-calorie feed such as sunflower seeds and peanuts, as this will cause hamsters to become obese and prone to illness. Also, do not feed food meant for humans or food with too high a salt content. Do not feed feed of unknown origin or feed that is moldy and spoiled. Also, make sure there is enough drinking water in the farm, but note that it must be changed frequently, and drinking water that has been left standing for too long must not be used.

3. Bedding and Sand Baths

The choice of bedding is also something we need to pay attention to. During the farming process, if the farming bedding is not chosen appropriately, then the area around the farm will have an unpleasant odor, so in order to avoid too strong a smell and air pollution, bedding must be chosen reasonably. Generally, wood shavings, fine sand, corn cobs, and the like can be used, and the deodorizing effect of these beddings is quite good. Of course, when raising them, we can also use special deodorizers to remove odors. Hamsters love cleanliness, but we cannot give hamsters water baths, otherwise they will die, and in large-scale farming, bathing with water requires too much labor and is not practical. We usually set up sand baths in the middle of the farm, so they can bathe themselves and clean the dirt off their bodies.

4. Understanding the Breeds

Understanding hamster breeds is also an issue we need to pay attention to, because some hamster breeds are not suitable for group rearing, and for such breeds in large-scale farming we need scientific planning, otherwise the farming yield will be very low, and the impact on the economic benefits of farming is very great. Of course, it is best to choose breeds that can be raised in groups, as this makes feeding and management convenient.

5. Exercise and Teeth Grinding

In hamster farming, we also need to let them maintain a certain amount of exercise for reasonable digestion. If there is no reasonable exercise, hamsters are very prone to symptoms of indigestion, which seriously affects the growth of hamsters. Also, we need to prepare teeth-grinding tools for the hamsters, otherwise they will use everything around the farm to grind their teeth, which not only affects their health but may also lead to escape.

The above are several issues we need to pay attention to in the process of large-scale hamster farming, and I believe everyone now has a basic understanding. If you encounter other problems in your subsequent farming, you can also consult us.
