What should be noted when breeding bloodworms?
The bloodworm is an excellent bait for fishing. It contains relatively high protein and is a very high-quality high-protein feed on the current market, commonly used in aquaculture, poultry farming and some special breeding projects. As market demand for bloodworms increases, the scale of bloodworm breeding is gradually expanding, so what issues need to be noted when breeding bloodworms? Follow the editor below to learn about them.

1. Time to collect bloodworms
Many people do not know when the best time to collect bloodworms is. If the collection time is wrong, then the bloodworms are not so easy to collect, and both the quantity and quality collected are not very good, so we should choose a suitable time. Generally, the two periods of late spring and early autumn each year are the peak seasons for bloodworm reproduction. Cultured bloodworms usually float on the water surface, and the water surface takes on a reddish-brown color. This is the best time to collect them.
2. Breeding feed
When carrying out large-scale bloodworm breeding, in order to reduce breeding costs while still ensuring feed quality, choosing feed also becomes a very important issue. Generally we choose rice bran, sawdust, sugarcane bagasse, pigeon manure, sludge and similar materials for feeding. But before feeding, they need to undergo fermentation, and only after complete fermentation can they be used for breeding. Of course, yeast powder can also be used appropriately for feeding, but the amount must be controlled.
3. Cooling and cold protection
During the breeding process we should pay attention to temperature management, otherwise it will affect the survival rate and reproduction rate of bloodworms. The temperature suitable for bloodworm growth is generally about 15 to 30 degrees, but the optimal temperature for bloodworm growth is 18 to 25 degrees, and when the temperature reaches about 28 degrees, bloodworms enter a vigorous reproduction period, so during breeding we should reasonably adjust the temperature according to the growth stage of the bloodworms. In winter, remember to carry out insulation and cold protection measures to avoid frost damage to bloodworms, which would affect the survival rate.
4. Feeding management
Feeding management is a relatively important step in the breeding process. When feeding, the principle of small amounts and multiple times should be followed, which is very beneficial for increasing earthworm production. In ordinary feeding, feed is generally given once every 5 to 7 days, but if it is the peak season for bloodworm reproduction, then it needs to be fed once every 3 days. The amount of feed each time is generally controlled at 100 to 200 jin, with a maximum of no more than 200 jin. If the feeding amount is less than 100, bloodworms will starve to death.
5. Light management
The growth of bloodworms requires sufficient light. If there is insufficient light, then the cultured bloodworms will develop various problems, or even die. The light duration required for bloodworm growth each day is 24 hours, which means light is also needed at night, but the light intensity at night does not need to be too strong; generally only a faint light is needed. During the day, however, we need to shade them appropriately, controlling the light at about 10 percent.
The above are several issues to note when breeding bloodworms. Of course, during the breeding process we also need to pay attention to the water quality, breeding techniques and breeding environment. If everyone is interested, or has questions, you can also leave a comment below for consultation.
