Are eels marine fish or freshwater fish? Freshwater eel farming conditions and techniques

Eel farming conditions

Eels are also called white eels, but white eel can only be said to be one variety of eel. Eels are mainly distributed in China's Yangtze River, Min River and Pearl River areas, and with fishermen catching them, wild eels are becoming fewer and fewer. But now the economic value of eels on the market is quite considerable, and eels are both freshwater fish and marine fish. Eels spawn and breed in the deep sea and grow in freshwater environments. If eels are to be farmed artificially, what conditions are needed? Follow the editor below to learn about it.

1. Farming site

The farming site is the most basic condition for eel farming. If there is no suitable farming site, then there is no point in talking about eel farming. The eel farming site generally needs to be at least about 50 mu in scale, and secondly the farm must be equipped with a water injection system, drainage system, heating and cooling systems, aerators, etc., and the eel ponds must also be well planned. In addition, the water sources near the farm must be abundant, the water quality must be pollution-free, and electricity and transportation must be convenient.

2. Water quality requirements

Water quality is crucial to eel farming, and the water quality requirements are mainly shown in these aspects. First is the water temperature. Generally, the water temperature is best at 25 to 28 degrees, but temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees are also acceptable. Second, the water quality is best slightly acidic, as this makes the eels more productive. Then, the oxygen content in the water body must be sufficient, preferably 5 to 12 milligrams per liter. In addition, the content of calcium, nitrate, and also sulfide, ammonia gas and iron in the water body must all be reasonable, neither too much nor too little, otherwise it will also affect the normal growth of the eels.

3. Bait requirements

Eels are a carnivorous fish, so when we farm eels, there are also requirements for bait. If the bait is unreasonable, it will also lead to farming failure. Generally, we need a sufficient supply of feed such as earthworms or small insects and small fish. Secondly, fresh fish from artificial farming can be minced with a meat grinder and then fed. Also, processed bait can be used, that is, processed granular or powdered animal feed can be used for feeding.

4. Farming techniques

Eel farming techniques are an important condition for high yield and high profit. The reason many farmers fail is that their farming techniques are not professional, and many problems easily arise during the farming process, ultimately leading to mass death of eels and heavy losses. So before farming eels, we had best first undergo professional farming technique training and practical operation, and only start farming if there are no problems.

At present, eel farming techniques are actually still not very complete, so they still need to be continuously improved. And for us farmers, we also need to continuously improve our own farming professionalism, thereby increasing the economic benefits of farming.
