Points to note in laying duck farming

Duck farming has always been a popular industry and is also one of the important farming projects in our country. There are many duck breeds with different uses: there are laying ducks raised specifically for eggs, and there are meat ducks raised specifically for meat. Below, the editor will explain the points to note in laying duck farming. Let's take a look.

1. Feeding management

Laying ducks generally start laying eggs after about half a year of farming. To get laying ducks to produce more eggs, you need to feed them reasonably according to the surrounding environment. The number of feedings and the feeding time have a certain relationship with the laying rate of laying ducks. If the number of feedings is suddenly reduced or the feeding time is changed, it may cause the egg production to drop in summer, so during the laying period, in addition to ensuring the laying ducks eat their fill, providing a stable feeding routine is also extremely important.

2. Calcium supplementation

Laying ducks cannot do without calcium when laying eggs, especially during the peak laying period. If laying ducks lack calcium, the laying rate will decline, and soft-shelled eggs and thin-shelled eggs are very likely to be produced, affecting commercial value. Therefore, in order to ensure the laying rate of laying ducks, the calcium content in the feed should be increased during the laying period to raise the laying rate.

3. Avoid stress

When a flock of ducks is suddenly transferred from one place to another unfamiliar environment, its egg production will drop and diseases may also be triggered. This is stress. Therefore, when farming, it is best not to change the farming environment; keep raising them in one environment until they are ready for market. At the same time, during the raising process, try to keep the duck house quiet. It is not suitable to make loud noises, or have strangers or animals disturb them, as these will cause stress and thereby affect egg production.

4. Cull in time

Some farmers do not cull old laying ducks in time during raising, making the output of laying ducks worse year after year. Generally, laying ducks should be replaced in time at 500-600 days of age, or when the flock ages, it will seriously affect the laying rate and cause a serious decline in the farmers' economic returns.

5. Light intensity

During the laying period of laying ducks, light intensity requires special attention. Some people, in order to increase egg production, blindly increase light intensity or light duration, which instead has the opposite effect and lowers the laying rate. Generally speaking, strictly speaking, each light period should not exceed 1 hour, and the lights should not be switched off and on suddenly, nor come on early or late at random. The light duration should be gradually extended, and should not exceed 16 hours at most.
