Daisy, also known as spring chrysanthemum, horsetail iris head, and everlasting chrysanthemum, is suitable for placement on balconies, windowsills, and living rooms. When growing it, note that daisies are not tolerant of high temperatures, so provide shade in summer.

Daisies blooming

Basic conditions

Soil: suitable for well-drained fertile soil, and ordinary garden soil can also be adapted to; not tolerant of waterlogging.

Temperature: cold-tolerant, prefers a cool climate, and under hot conditions blooms poorly and is prone to dying.

Light: daisies need sunlight for emergence, and are best placed in a spot with scattered sunlight; after emergence, gradually expose them to light. Daisies like cool conditions, but also need sufficient light, so placing them by the windowsill is fine; autumn sunlight is not harsh, so direct light is also acceptable.

Water and temperature: how much to water depends on the soil; water when dry and let dry when wet. Take the soil in your hand: if it can be rolled into a ball without falling apart, then do not water; if the soil falls apart, then water. Generally, water more right after seedlings are planted, and water less when they are about to bloom.

The heart of flower growing

Fertilizing: there is no need to fertilize too frequently; fertilize once every 2-3 weeks, using diluted manure fertilizer, and cultivate once a month; stop fertilizing after blooming. You can crush eggshells, soak them in water, and apply once a week.

Propagation: mainly by sowing, cuttings, and division. Before sowing, apply enough decomposed organic fertilizer as a base fertilizer, mix the seeds evenly with fine sand and scatter them, then cover with a 0.5 cm layer of fine soil; after sowing, provide shade and water. Division propagation can be done in mid-March: dig out old daisy plants, expose the rhizome part, cut off side shoots that already have roots together with old roots, and transplant them into pots. Daisies can be propagated by cuttings throughout the entire growing season. Cut 8-10 cm branches with 3-5 nodes, remove the lower leaves, and insert them to a depth of 1/3 of the plant's depth. After cutting, keep the potting soil moist, avoid waterlogging, and provide shade during hot seasons.
