How to raise red worms for fishing? Simple and practical methods and tips
Many anglers like to use worms as fishing bait, because worms are economical and affordable, and the effect is also good, suitable for all kinds of waters, commonly known as the universal bait. Below is a method for anglers to raise worms themselves, so you no longer need to buy worms at the tackle shop, and you can take them whenever you need them, saving both time and money.

First prepare a 1 cubic meter container and 0.5 cubic meters of rich soil, and cut wheat straw, corn stalks, rice straw, etc. into 20 cm lengths. If you do not have wheat straw, corn stalks, or rice straw, you can also directly use soaked tea leaves as a substitute.

First place the container in a cool, dry place, break up the prepared rich soil, pour it into the bottom of the container, then put in a few dozen large red worms, cover them with a layer of soil, and sprinkle some leftover rice, porridge, and wheat bran on top. Then spread a layer of rice straw on top, and on top of the rice straw spread wheat straw and corn stalks. Then sprinkle on water to make it moist inside, but the water must not be too much. Worms like to live in moist soil, but they fear being soaked in water most of all. If the worms are soaked in water, they will ball up together, and within an hour they will become soft, turn white, and all die.

Finally, cover the container, but be sure to leave air holes, and do not let the worms suffocate from lack of oxygen. Also do not let the worms escape on their own. In addition, prevent mice from stealing them to eat, because mice really like to eat worms. Finally, do not forget to sprinkle some water often to keep the soil moist. In addition, you can also put rotten bananas, apple peels, rotten peaches, and soaked tea leaves into the container.

Red worms generally reproduce relatively quickly in spring, summer, and autumn, and in winter, because the temperature is relatively low, they reproduce very slowly. In summer, always keep the temperature inside the container from exceeding 30 degrees, because if the temperature is too high, it will make the worms develop a casing or be killed by the heat.

Usually often use chopsticks or a small stick to part the grass and soil to check the worms' reproduction. When you find one worm entering the belly of another from its head, with only its tail left outside, it means the worms are mating, and you must not disturb them. In addition, if there are dead worms, take them out in time to prevent infecting the other worms.

If you find spherical objects the size of millet grains in the soil or on the moist grass, slightly green and transparent in color, these are worm eggs. You need to guard against other pests entering and swallowing the worm eggs. The larvae of red worms are generally white and thread-like, can wriggle slightly, and after a few days they can turn red. Their growth rate is very fast, so you can just take and use them whenever you go fishing.

When using worms as fishing bait, you can first hook the worm, then dip it in clove oil or Yuxun No. 1 fishing attractant, and the fish-attracting effect is very good.
