Making a bonsai from pine trees depends on which species you use. Today I will introduce the Golden Larch (Pseudolarix amabilis). So that everyone can clearly understand the money tree's care methods and precautions.

The Golden Larch (Pseudolarix amabilis) is a deciduous tree of the genus Pseudolarix in the pine family. Its crown has a conical or nearly pagoda-like shape. Externally, the old trunk is reddish-brown and covered with scales. The branches of the Golden Larch grow irregularly. The leaves are linear and soft. In spring and summer they appear light green and tender; in autumn they turn dark yellow.

So if you want to make a bonsai from the Golden Larch, there are a few points to note:

1. Sourcing materials

There are many ways to propagate the plant; those who don't know how can watch on my homepage. After selecting a good stump, transplanting is basically done before spring bud break, or it can also be done after leaf fall in autumn. But when transplanting, be careful to keep the original soil. When transplanting, the Golden Larch stump should be simply pruned and tidied. When raising seedlings, control the height of the Golden Larch plant and promote the growth of side branches. Let the base thicken, and after 2 to 3 years it can be shaped.

2. Shaping

The more common styles are the forest style and the water-and-land style; you can decide according to your own preference. When using metal wire etc. to wrap and bend the trunk, one point to note is that the Golden Larch grows relatively fast, so the wire must be removed promptly before the shape sets.

3. Care

The Golden Larch likes a warm and humid environment and needs plenty of light. But this is not absolute; in midsummer, because the light is too strong, the light should be appropriately shaded. Friends who plant it in shallow pots should pay special attention to this. Normally, just keep the pot soil moist and avoid waterlogging. Usually you can spray water around the Golden Larch and on its branches and leaves more often to increase air humidity, which both preserves moisture and removes dust. The Golden Larch is still rather lacking in fertilizer during its growing season; basically apply fertilizer once a month. In winter, due to the temperature differences between north and south, in the south it can just be placed outdoors in a wind-sheltered, sunny spot. In the north it is best to place it indoors. For the rest, during the Golden Larch's growing season, prune appropriately according to shaping needs.

4. Soil

The Golden Larch likes to grow in soil containing humus, and the soil should be loose, well-draining and slightly acidic.
