The application value of rice-fish symbiosis technology in aquaculture
The advantages of raising fish in rice paddies are increasingly recognized, because it is both scientific and widely accessible to the public, and it brings both immediate benefits and long-term benefits. Managing 1 mu of fish-raising rice paddy well and producing more than 10 kg of fish is equivalent to having the fish output of 2 mu of reservoir (the current national average reservoir fish output is 5.5 kg per mu), and it also provides a large number of large-sized high-quality fish fry for mechanized high-density fish farming production and open-water stocking work. In the 3 provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou and Heilongjiang, the output of fish raised in rice paddies accounted for 8.5% of the province's total aquatic product output respectively, becoming one of the main local aquaculture methods. Raising fish in rice paddies plays an important role in increasing freshwater fish output and promoting the development of freshwater fisheries in inland rice-growing areas far from the sea and far from fishery centers.
