Quail were domesticated from wild birds, and although they have been raised by humans, they still retain wild habits, such as being easily frightened and afraid of noise. To make quail lay more eggs, you must create a quiet and suitable rearing environment for the quail, reduce the occurrence of all kinds of stress factors, and also do the following well:

1. You need to keep young quail. Select individuals that are strong, disease-free and eat a lot. The lifespan of quail is roughly 2 years; hatched female quail begin laying eggs at 35-45 days, and after 8-10 months of laying, their egg production declines. Therefore, quail kept for more than one year lay fewer eggs and should be culled early, then sold after fattening.

2. After female quail start laying, their appetite is strong, so you must supply enough high-quality feed, and crude protein should generally account for about 28% of the feed. Quail lay more than 300 eggs a year, consuming a great deal of calcium and phosphorus, so attention should be paid to supplementing calcium and phosphorus in the daily ration. They should be fed a complete compound feed, and single feeds should be fed as little as possible or not at all. The formula for a complete compound feed is: cornmeal 48%, cake-type feed 32.7%, fish meal 6%, dried grass meal 5%, shell powder 5%, bone meal 3%, multivitamin additive 0.3%.

3. Laying female quail have certain requirements for humidity and temperature; for example, if the ambient temperature is below 15°C, egg production clearly declines and may even stop. The suitable house temperature should be maintained at 18°C-25°C, and adjusted promptly if too high or too low. The suitable house humidity should be kept between 50% and 60%, and you should ensure an adequate supply of clean drinking water and chopped green, succulent feed.

4. Light has a great influence on the egg production of female quail. Quail like red light. There should be 15 hours of light every day; when light is insufficient, electric lights can be used to supplement it, with red light being the best.
