Usually in flower and bird markets in the south, we can often see this plant, the peace lily; its Chinese scientific name is Spathiphyllum, and it is quite suitable for indoor potted ornamental use, being more common in the south, while the northern climate is not very suitable.

Today let's talk with friends in the south about how to grow peace lilies well.

1. Suitable environment

Peace lilies like a high-temperature, high-humidity environment and are rather averse to being scorched by the sun; the suitable growing temperature is between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius, and in winter the temperature should be kept above 14 degrees. Once the temperature drops below 10 degrees, growth stops and the leaves are easily frostbitten, so it is best to keep it indoors; peace lilies are fairly shade-tolerant plants.

2. Sunlight

That peace lilies do not like strong light does not mean they do not need sunlight at all; in winter and early spring, you can give them a bit more light, and if the sunlight becomes strong, then you need to shade them.

If kept in a dark place for a long time, the peace lily plant will become rather thin and weak, and in serious cases this will affect flowering, resulting in no flowers.

3. Water

For peace lilies during the growing period, keep the potting soil moist, but do not water too much and cause waterlogging; otherwise, being too wet will lead to problems such as root rot and yellow leaves.

You can use the method of spraying water to maintain overall humidity.

4. Soil and fertilizer

Use loose, breathable potting soil with good drainage; it can be a substrate made by mixing leaf mold, peat soil and perlite, and when mixing the substrate you can add some organic fertilizer.

If you want to fertilize normally, it is best to dissolve the fertilizer in water and water it on as fertilizer water, which is better for peace lilies.

5. Repotting

Generally repot once every one to two years; when repotting, prune the old roots and replace the old soil.

Peace lilies can not only be used for viewing; they also have a big effect on absorbing exhaust gases and formaldehyde indoors and cleaning the air!
