When farming meat sheep in rural areas, besides green feed, roughage and concentrated feed, there are several other feeds that must be used, so that the sheep stay healthy and fatten up quickly. Let us take a detailed look below.

1. Green feed

Besides the wild weeds and leaves in fields and by small rivers, there are also high-quality forage grasses grown artificially. Such as: ryegrass, clover, comfrey, Sudan grass and other fine forage grasses. Growing grass to raise livestock can solve the source of forage in winter. (Generally, small-scale rural farming is not suitable for artificially growing grass)

2. Roughage

Refers to the stems and leaves of various crops after harvest. Such as: rice straw, corn stalks, soybean stalks, peanut vines, sweet potato vines, etc. Some can be stored and used directly, and some need to be cut fine, ground into powder, moistened, soaked, fermented, ammoniated, etc., and processed and prepared before feeding.

3. Concentrated feed

Also called energy-protein feed. Mainly corn, soybeans, wheat, miscellaneous grains, bean dregs, bean hulls, bean cake and other agricultural and sideline products.

4. Animal-based feed

Mainly fish meal, silkworm pupae, blood meal, meat residue and other high-protein feeds, suitable for feeding ewes and lambs

5. Mineral feed

Mainly salt, bone meal, calcium carbonate, etc.

6. Special feed

Urea can only be mixed into concentrated feed rich in carbohydrates and fed to sheep, accounting for 0.02-0.05% of the sheep's body weight. For every ten kilograms of body weight, feed 2-5 grams of urea.

No matter when, there must be sufficient feed; that is the foundation of raising sheep well.
