How to grow and care for Weeping Bottlebrush (Callistemon viminalis) seedlings: cultivation methods and precautions
1. Light
The bottlebrush itself is quite fond of sunlight, so we should normally grow it with all-day sun exposure. It must not be kept in a spot with poor light for long periods, otherwise its growth will easily be hindered and its leaves will easily turn dry and yellow, so light is very important for it.
2. Water
It generally prefers water, but water must not be allowed to accumulate in the potting soil, that is, it must not be watered too much, otherwise its roots will easily rot, which is also bad for its growth. When watering again, remember not to water if the potting soil is not dry; if it is dry, it must be watered thoroughly. Watering this way can effectively avoid water accumulation.
3. Fertilizer supply
⟧ The bottlebrush is quite fond of fertilizer, so when adding fertilizer we can prepare some liquid fertilizer ourselves, take some of the clear liquid and mix it with some water for watering; this keeps the fertilizer from being too concentrated, and then we can apply it frequently. This can well meet its fertilizer needs.
4. The placement position should be fixed
Normally when we place it, the position must be somewhat fixed; it must not be moved back and forth, as such constant change is also very harmful to its growth.
5. Management of potted plants
Bonsai generally requires very few saplings, and you can propagate it yourself by the cutting method. During its growing season, we can cut some of its relatively sturdy top branches, about 8 to 10 cm in length is enough, and after drying them slightly we can insert them into a prepared sand bed.
6. Prevention and control of pests and diseases
When growing it, some pests and diseases generally appear, and they cause great damage to its roots. So at this time we must do a good job of pest and disease prevention; when insects appear we can use some medicines to thoroughly eliminate them. In addition, we can also put some sweet sugar water or rice water on the weeds, which can also improve the control effect.
