Vernalization in orchids is an indispensable part of promoting growth; during the growth period, orchids hardly grow and instead accumulate nutrients to supply the flower buds. Different plants have different environmental requirements for vernalization. Cymbidium ensifolium and Cymbidium kanran do not need specially provided low temperatures and can bloom naturally, but Cymbidium sinense is different: it requires a specific range of above 10°C and below 15°C, otherwise the quality of its blooms will be greatly reduced because of the temperature issue.
