The dangers of pesticides and chemical fertilizers are great; promoting bio-organic fertilizers brooks no delay
At present, about 200 million mu of arable land nationwide has problems such as food safety and ecological safety in its use. Of this, more than 50 million mu has suffered moderate to severe pollution from heavy metals and the like; this portion of arable land all needs to be remediated anew and allowed to recuperate before it can possibly return to normal agricultural production.
Map of lead pollution distribution in China
The distribution map shows that in some areas of provinces such as Liaoning, Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangdong and Guangxi, heavy metal pollution problems exist to varying degrees, with cadmium pollution present in the vast majority of them, and mainly in factory and mining areas.
The adverse effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides
The flow of pesticides and chemical fertilizers
The heavy use of chemical fertilizers causes the organic matter content of the soil to decline, the content of heavy metal ions to rise, the soil to become compacted, and the land to become very barren, affecting the yield and quality of crops. Organic fertilizer can effectively improve soil quality. After organic fertilizer is applied to farmland, it can increase soil humus, improve soil structure and build up soil fertility; it can also improve the living conditions of soil microorganisms, increase the number and activity of beneficial microorganisms, and promote the release of soil nutrients.
Pesticides are a special class of chemicals. Although they can prevent and control agricultural and forestry pests and diseases, they can be transferred to the human body through the enrichment effect of the food chain. Long-term consumption of contaminated grain, vegetables and fruit is an important cause of diseases such as cancer, arteriosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, fetal deformity, stillbirth and premature aging.

Pesticides and chemical fertilizers also cause eutrophication of surface water and groundwater at the same time, and agricultural pollution has become a major water pollution source no less serious than industrial pollution.
Promotion of bio-organic fertilizers
Bio-organic fertilizer refers to a type of fertilizer that combines specific functional microorganisms with organic materials mainly derived from animal and plant residues (such as livestock and poultry manure, crop straw, etc.) that have undergone harmless treatment and composting, and that has the effects of both microbial fertilizer and organic fertilizer.
Bio-organic fertilizer can improve soil: it conditions the soil, activates the activity rate of microorganisms in the soil, overcomes soil compaction, and increases soil air permeability.
Bio-organic fertilizer can increase the utilization rate of chemical fertilizers and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers: it reduces water loss and evaporation, eases the pressure of drought, preserves fertilizer, reduces chemical fertilizers, and eases damage from salinity and alkalinity. While reducing the amount of chemical fertilizer used or gradually replacing chemical fertilizer, it improves soil fertility and greatly increases the yield of grain crops, cash crops, vegetables and melons and fruits.
Bio-organic fertilizer's ability to resist pests and diseases and improve plant survival rate: through high-temperature composting, most pathogenic bacteria and insect eggs are killed, reducing the occurrence of pests and diseases; bio-organic fertilizer can improve the microbial community in the crop rhizosphere, enhance the plant's ability to resist pests and diseases; strengthen crop disease resistance and stress resistance, reduce diseases caused by continuous cropping and soil-borne diseases in crops, and lower the incidence rate; it has relatively good effects on the prevention and control of mosaic disease, black shank disease, anthracnose and the like, while also enhancing the crop's comprehensive defensive ability against adverse environments.
Ecological organic fertilizer has a complete set of nutrient elements: after the beneficial microorganisms in bio-organic fertilizer enter the soil, they form a mutually symbiotic and proliferating relationship with the microorganisms in the soil, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and transform them into beneficial bacteria, interacting with and promoting one another in a synergistic effect of the community. During their growth and reproduction, beneficial bacteria produce large amounts of metabolites, promote the decomposition and transformation of organic matter, and can directly or indirectly provide crops with a variety of nutrients and stimulant substances, promoting and regulating crop growth.
Bio-organic fertilizer reduces environmental pollution, is safe and non-toxic to people, livestock and the environment, and is an environmentally friendly fertilizer.
