What issues need attention in catfish farming? A full analysis of the rearing key points
Catfish, also called sheatfish, is mainly divided into four types: Chinese catfish, big-mouth catfish, walking catfish and Clarias leather catfish. Catfish is a very common fish farming project in our daily lives; it has strong adaptability to the environment, is easy to farm and manage, and can be farmed in most parts of our country. So what issues do we need to pay attention to when farming catfish? Let's take a look below.

1. Pond construction
Before farming catfish, we need to consider the site selection and construction of the pond. Generally, we should choose a relatively quiet area with sufficient water sources and unpolluted water quality to build the pond. Next, we build the pond according to the terrain and topography of the selected pond site, and reasonably plan the pond area according to the scale of farming. The depth of the pond should be about 1.2 m, and a drainage pipe and an inlet pipe should be installed in the pond. Finally, after the pond is built, it should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Disinfection is usually carried out with quicklime, and after disinfection is completed, new water is added and we wait to start farming.
2. Selecting and releasing fry
There are many catfish fry on the market, but it is best to choose them from a legitimate place. When selecting fry, observe as much as possible, checking whether the appearance of the fry is injured, the activity of the fry and the feeding situation of the fry, and then choose robust, disease-free fry of uniform and relatively even size. Before releasing the fry, we should disinfect them, and before release we should conduct a trial culture; only if the trial culture has no problems can the fry be officially released. The last thing to note is that when releasing the fry, the density should be reasonably controlled, generally 70 to 80 fry per square meter, and at most no more than 100.
3. Water quality management
During farming, water quality management in the pond is crucial, so we must pay great attention to it in the farming process. First, we must ensure that the water quality in the pond is clean and clear, so under normal circumstances the water needs to be changed about once every ten days to half a month, but in order to maintain the fertility of the pond, we can keep 30 percent of the old water each time we change the water. Also, when catfish frequently jump out of the water, it indicates that the water lacks oxygen, so new water needs to be added, and an appropriate amount of oxygen-increasing agent can be applied. Finally, we can also plant some plants such as duckweed and algae in the pond, which can also play a role in purifying the water quality.
4. Feeding management
When farming catfish, we also need professional feeding management techniques. First, we need to choose high-quality feed and must not neglect feed quality just to save money. Second, when putting in feed, we should do it at fixed times, fixed locations and fixed amounts, generally feeding at fixed times every morning and afternoon. After the catfish finish eating, we should promptly remove the feed residue to avoid polluting the water quality. Also, we should take good measures against pests and diseases to avoid serious losses caused by disease problems.
Alright, that's all for today's sharing. I hope it can help more friends who farm catfish, and I also very much thank everyone for your support and reading. Finally, I wish everyone greater smoothness in your future farming process. Of course, if you have any questions you need to consult about, you can also leave us a message.
