Wild goose farming conditions

The wild goose, also called the wild swan goose, is a large migratory bird of the swan family and is also a national second-class protected animal. Wild geese are rich in protein and other nutrients, making them an excellent nutritional health product, and they also have certain medicinal value. They have effects such as dispelling wind-cold, promoting blood circulation, and clearing heat and detoxifying. Their feathers can also be used as filling material for clothing and bedding, or processed into other handicrafts. So what conditions are needed for raising wild geese? Let us learn about it together below.

1. Farming site

The water source for a wild goose farming site must be plentiful and free of pollution, and the area around the farm should have abundant forage, or have grassland, wetlands, and so on. The farming site should be on relatively high ground, with good drainage conditions and convenient transportation and electricity. Next, the sheds on the farm can be made of wood or steel, and it is even better if there are orchards or open spaces in front and behind. Also, the farming site should be flat, and sandy loam soil is best.

2. Rearing conditions

The rearing conditions for wild geese are mainly shown in three aspects: temperature, light, and humidity. During brooding of the wild geese, the temperature is best regulated between 28 and 30°C. After the wild geese reach 7 days of age, the temperature can be slowly lowered, and after they reach 20 days of age, they can be raised at normal indoor temperature. The farm should be kept ventilated and dry; too much humidity is very likely to breed bacteria and easily cause respiratory diseases, so attention should be paid to humidity management. Under normal conditions, the humidity on the farm is best controlled at around 55%. From just after hatching until 7 days of age, the daily light duration should be maintained at 24 hours; as the wild geese grow, the light duration can then be slowly adjusted, until after one month they can adapt to a normal light duration.

3. Farming technology

Farming technology is the most important point in wild goose farming. It is directly related to the survival rate of wild goose farming and also directly affects the yield and economic benefits of the wild geese. Generally, at 7 days of age, the various physiological functions of the wild geese are not yet fully developed, so we need to use some feed that is easy to absorb and digest for feeding. When the wild geese reach 15 days of age, they can be fed according to normal rearing methods.

4. Anti-escape measures

The wild goose is a special farming project involving a bird with flight ability, so we must make preparations to prevent escape. Generally, when farming, whether inside the farm or in the surrounding habitats, water activity areas, or other areas where they can move and feed, we need to set up anti-escape equipment. Nylon netting is generally used as a surround, and it is also best to lay overhead netting, otherwise they can easily escape.

The wild goose is a national protected animal, so the farming procedures must be legalized. Next, when farming, if you want to improve the economic benefits of farming, then the farming conditions are the prerequisite for farming, and farming technology is the key to farming.
