Livestock Farming 0 views
This disease is characterized by occurring throughout the year, in an endemic pattern, affecting pigs of all ages, mostly at 13-20 weeks of age, with a course of 2-8 days and a relatively high mortality rate. Symptoms: affected pigs show elevated body temperature of 40.5°C-42°C, depression, reduced or absent appetite, difficulty breathing, sometimes coughing, pale visible mucous membranes, pale or purplish skin, constipation or diarrhea, abortion and stillbirth in pregnant sows, and neurological symptoms in suckling piglets with high mortality. Pathological necropsy: necropsy of 6 dead pigs and 2 severely ill

This disease is characterized by occurring throughout the year, in an endemic pattern, affecting pigs of all ages, mostly at 13-20 weeks of age, with a course of 2-8 days and a relatively high mortality rate.

Symptoms

Affected pigs show elevated body temperature of 40.5°C-42°C, depression, reduced or absent appetite, difficulty breathing, sometimes coughing, pale visible mucous membranes, pale or purplish skin, constipation or diarrhea, abortion and stillbirth in pregnant sows, and neurological symptoms in suckling piglets with high mortality.

Pathological necropsy: necropsy of 6 dead pigs and 2 severely ill live pigs revealed enlarged lymph nodes, congestion or hemorrhage, pulmonary hemorrhage with mottled lesions, fibrinous exudation in the thoracic and abdominal cavities with adhesion formation, and in some cases hemorrhage in the liver and lungs, with petechial hemorrhages on the larynx.

Laboratory diagnosis

The pathogens of this disease are complex and diverse, making diagnosis difficult. In the early stage of onset, one pig is used for pathogen diagnosis, combined with a comprehensive analysis of clinical symptoms, pathological changes and disease characteristics, and corresponding treatment measures are finally formulated.

Prevention and control measures

Prevention: Strengthen feeding management and improve sanitary conditions. Pig farms or pig houses should be regularly disinfected with Baidujing or Baidusha, and environmental hygiene and quietness should be maintained to reduce stress responses. Adjust stocking density; reasonable stocking density can effectively control respiratory diseases in pigs and improve growth rate and feed utilization. Strengthen ventilation in pig houses, keep the air fresh, control temperature, minimize the number of times pigs are moved between pens and mixed, administer various vaccines according to the immunization program, regularly add drugs such as tylosin to feed for prevention, and adopt an all-in-all-out feeding system.

Treatment: For affected pigs, use long-acting Chuankang injection 10-20 ml/time and Xuechong Yicijing injection 10-15 mg/kg per time, by intramuscular injection, once daily, while also administering Vc injection 10-15 mg/kg, by intramuscular injection, twice daily, for 3 consecutive days. In addition, add tylosin to the feed and add electrolytes, multivitamins and oral rehydration salts to the water to reduce stress and supplement nutrition. The effect is relatively good, and after one course of treatment, the cure rate reaches over 90%.
